Ally Fallon in New Contemporaries

Ally Fallon, In My Beginning, Is My End, 2025 is on view in New Contempories at South London Gallery through 12 April 2026.

 

Fallon writes, "My painting, In My Beginning, Is My End, is featured in this year's New Contemporaries exhibition. The floor (taken from a doorstep in Camden) was the foundation for this painting which became a reflection on the studio, a painting about the space in which painting happens. Marks on the walls, built up paint, scuffs, dents and scratches all form a visual history, a record of activity. In this painting I wanted to establish presence in absence. Evidence of something having happened that is no longer visible. I put this piece forward as I felt it represented how my practice considers time. The time of making but also the time of existing and how a painting's history develops."

 

New Contemporaries will travel to MIMA, Middlesbrough from 8 May to 16 August 2026.
