Laetitia Yhap in Unveiled at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum

Laetitia Yhap’s Tadpoles, 1970 is currently on view in ‘Unveiled’ at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum, UK, through 6 June 2026. The exhibition brings together over 250 works from the Rugby Collection spanning eight decades of modern and contemporary British art, tracing post-war optimism, shifting social values and emerging voices.

Yhap found early success through solo shows of non-figurative paintings at the prestigious Piccadilly Gallery, London, in 1968, 1970 and 1973. Moving out of London in 1967, she settled in Hastings, in the south-east of England, where she discovered her calling to the fishing community and felt compelled to make works of the scenes that unfolded on the beach, for which she is now best known.

Tadpoles was purchased from the Piccadilly Gallery, London, with assistance from the Government Grant in Aid Scheme in 1974.
