Hales is delighted to share Super Modern Things, a new 124-page monograph exploring artist Sebastiaan Bremer's enduring fascination with flowers, published in September 2026 by 99 Publishers.
For over 35 years, flowers have been a recurring subject in Bremer's work, symbolising both beauty and the fleeting nature of life. Using intricate lines and dots, Bremer transforms photographic and historical imagery into richly layered compositions.
Drawing inspiration from seventeenth-century Dutch flower paintings, rare tulip catalogues and botanical publications, his work explores ideas of migration, trade, value and the histories behind familiar imagery.
Bremer's work is held in major international collections, including MoMA, the V&A, LACMA and the National Gallery of Art.
