Hales Gallery is pleased to announce Hew Locke's upcoming lecture at Falmouth School of Art,
Hew Locke returns to Falmouth School of Art where he studied to talk about his work and career. His investigation of the display of power includes royal and swagger portraiture, coats-of-arms, public statuary, trophies, masculinity, financial documents, weaponry and costume. He states: ‘This is essentially about power – who had it, who has it and who desires it’. Recurrent themes and imagery include visual expressions of power, trophies, globalisation, movement of peoples, the creation of cultures, ships and boats, and packaging.
