Hales is delighted to announce that Kay WalkingStick will be in conversation at the New-York Historical Society, in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition Nature, Crisis, Consequence and as part of the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series.
Moderated by New-York Historical Board Chair Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang, Nature, Crisis, Consequence: A Dialogue with Exhibition Artists presents a dialogue with seven contemporary Indigenous artists, followed by a Q&A.
An esteemed painter and art professor, Kay WalkingStick (Cherokee) is celebrated for her work of American landscapes and their metaphorical, physical, and spiritual significance "not only to Native Americans, but also to all people." Her works are in the permanent collections of and currently on view at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The talk will take place on 30 March 2023 at 6:30 EST in The Robert H. Smith Auditorium at the New-York Historical Society.
