Ebony G. Patterson has been chosen as a Bronx Museum 2025 Gala Honoree. The gala will take place on Monday, 7 April at Tribeca Rooftop.
Patterson's expansive practice addresses visibility and invisibility, through explorations of class, race, gender, youth culture, pageantry and acts of violence in the context of "postcolonial" spaces. With the strong sensibility of a painter, Patterson works across multiple media - including tapestry, photography, video, sculpture, drawing and installation - united by her consistent visual language and intention.
Patterson has also been selected by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation as a recipient of the 2024 MacArthur Fellowship. Additionally, she is the co-artistic director of Prospect.6: The Future is Present, the Harbinger is Home, currently on view at venues across New Orleans.
