Hales Gallery is pleased to announce the forthcoming Carolee Schneemann retrospective Kinetic Painting at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Austria.
This major retrospective exhibition, curated by Sabine Breitwieser, Tina Teufel and Professor Branden Joseph, shows Schneemann's pioneering work for the first time in a wider context, focusing in particular on aspects such as “kinetic painting,” as the artist herself calls it, and experimental film. It starts with Schneemann’s early landscape painting and “painting constructions” from the late 1950s and early 1960s. The first performances and experimental films lead into her kinetic installations and current work. Carolee Schneemann is an internationally acclaimed artist whose works are to be found in major museum collections and are shown throughout the world. A comprehensive catalogue is being prepared to accompany the exhibition.
