Hales Gallery is excited to announce that Carolee Schneemann will be attending Second Ward Foundation for a screening of several of her influential short films. The evening will include, among others, the film Fuses which Holland Cotter described in the New York Times as one of “Schneemann's most moving achievements.”
A retrospective of Carolee’s multifaceted work, including her films, recently travelled the world to critical acclaim concluding at MoMA PS1 earlier this year. And just last summer, she was awarded the 2017 Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale.
Following the screening there will be a short question and answer period with the artist, and the evening will conclude with a cocktail reception celebrating her achievements. Catalogues from the retrospective, as well as other publications featuring her work, will be available for sale during the reception.
This event is hosted by the Second Ward Foundation and the Carolee Schneemann Foundation. Admission is free although reservations are encouraged since space is limited.
